Thomas has been a Maryland and D.C. lawyer for 28 years. He has represented individuals and companies in all areas of law in the state and federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Thomas has also been specially admitted in others states, for individual cases, and he has coordinated multi-state litigation across the country, including Delaware, Texas, California, New York, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Thomas concentrates his practice on litigation of disputes involving real property, construction, surety, personal injury, maritime, insurance, probate, bankruptcy adversary proceedings and any other matter involving a broken promise that must be enforced or excused.

Thomas is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, and several other attorney member organizations relating to various areas of practice.

Ian is a graduate of Boston College, and the University of Baltimore School of Law. Before he joined Young & Valkenet, Ian worked at the Office of the Public Defender for Baltimore City, in both the felony trial division, and at the district court for the Northwestern precinct. He also clerked for Judge Clayton Greene, Jr., in Maryland's highest court.

Ian has been admitted to the Maryland, District of Columbia and Federal Bars, where he practices criminal and civil litigation. The National Trial Lawyers Association recently listed Ian among the "Top 100 Trial Lawyers" in criminal defense. Ian is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, The Baltimore County Bar Association, and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association.
