What is Probate?
In Maryland, probate is handled by the Register of Wills and the Maryland Orphans’ Court. Even if there is no Will, certain assets must pass through a probate estate.
Do I Need a Lawyer?
Yes. Disputes over whether a Will was properly made, or if it was made under improper influence or duress is called a “caveat” proceeding. This is real litigation before the court.
